The Patient Perspective Matters in Healthcare AI As an AI graduate with a unique perspective I've also been a patient for the past 17 years – I wholeheartedly agree with the importance of incorporating patient input into shaping healthcare AI models. 🏥 Traditionally, AI development in medicine has been a one-way street, driven by programmers and researchers. This approach, however, falls short. Patients are the ultimate decision-makers regarding their health, and their insights are crucial for building accurate, ethical, and truly beneficial AI models. Of course, incorporating patient feedback comes with challenges – like ensuring data quality and avoiding skewed perspectives. But with careful planning, patient voices can be a game-changer in building fair and effective AI for healthcare. Here's to a future where AI works for all patients, no matter their background! #healthcareAI #patientcentric #artificialintelligence #healthcare

Thanks Christine for sharing ideas! There should be a further analysis of the findings in terms of those participated in the survey and I am sure this has been addressed. Like any other innovation, in relation to AI adoption in healthcare, there should be clinicians and patients trust and without this key dimension, there would be areas of uncertainty, limited uptake of AI-powered tools, and ethical and legal consequences. What would be the outcome for us and for our patients? This is the question that the majority of clinicians raise when they are asked about their opinion about AI. For patient, the ease of access to quality services with expected clinical and fiscal outcomes are critical. For administratives, the net benefit of AI might be the case. For benefit realization, from a variety of perspectives, we need boosting technical, clinical, ethical, and legal infrastructures. AI governance has a pivotal role to play and hope we could take advantage of AI in healthcare with right planning, policy making, and monitoring. Thanks

As always, insightful post Christine Jacob. These results are logically predictable as the #Ai in #healthcare #acceptance and #literacy among #healthcareprofessionals is still low as there is too much to #know and to #regulate. https://lnkd.in/dWu4renQ. So, the patients have naturally the #feeling of #skepticism and #fear regarding #ai in #healthcare. There is too much work on #healthcareprofessionals and #patients as conclude this article: “. Moreover, as found in our review and supported by the literature, more experienced healthcare professionals tend to trust their knowledge and experience more than an AI system. Consequently, they might override the system’s recommendations and make their own decisions based on their personal judgement”.

AI in Healthcare: A Promising Future with Cautious Steps 🖥️✨ AI has been used in healthcare for years, but Generative AI is a new type with the ability to create new content. ChristianaCare uses AI to improve care management, identify racial disparities in health outcomes, and address workforce shortages. 🩺⚕️ Generative AI can potentially free up human time for more valuable tasks, improve diagnostic accuracy, and create entirely new solutions. Ethical considerations like data privacy, security, and potential job displacement require careful management.✨ Finding the right balance between speed and caution is crucial to harnessing the benefits of AI responsibly. Dr. Nevin emphasizes the importance of focusing on use cases with clear impact and collaboration across the healthcare field to navigate AI effectively. At Pathfinder Health, we utilize AI effectively to assist caretakers in addressing developmental concerns from children ages 0 to 5. To succeed with AI in healthcare, it's crucial to address the "black box" issue, where physicians and patients lack understanding of the technology's workings. The AMA has developed new advocacy principles that focus on AI oversight, emphasizing the importance of transparency and informed consent. Sunil Dadlani, an expert from Atlantic Health System, emphasizes that without education for physicians and patients, trust in AI will not be established, leading to non-adoption. He also warns of potential negative outcomes, such as declining patient-centered care and increased burdens for physicians and staff. Patient autonomy is essential, and informed consent or an option to opt-out of AI-enabled care can help ensure it https://lnkd.in/eCDzRE8a #healthcare #healthcareinnovation #healthcareit #healthcareai #ai #ama #patientautonomy
