I don't like to plug individual companies, and this isn't one for Torus, but the fact this company exists shows that there is a big hole in the pricing and fee allocation by issuers and acquirers on both sides of Visa Mastercard networks. Years ago, I would hear about the large acquirers getting consultants in to make sure they are allocating scheme fees correctly to customers as they have no visibility at a merchant level. Also that they are not over-paying to the card schemes. It seems they are still working with the same spreadsheets. Torus seems to have come up with a SAAS product which provides accurate visibility and automates network fee calculations for issuers and acquirers to avoid these scenarios and save millions. This seems unbelievable but many of you probably won't be surprised. It does beg the question, how do you know you are paying the right fees, even if you are on Interchange++. And what can you do about it if your acquirer doesn't know either!! Heard of these guys via Geoffrey Barraclough's fantastic newsletter, Business of Payments.
