Recap on "How to Finance the Scale-Up of Capital-Intensive Climate Technology" at the Climeworks Carbon Removal Summit! Growth equity and project finance investors see carbon removals and direct air capture as key potential growth areas. However, to replicate the incredible scaling seen in technology and renewable energy over the last 20 years, three actions are required: 1) CDR companies need to continue to make rapid progress on reducing costs as they deliver at scale 2) companies and policy makers need to be better educated on the value of carbon removals. Without them, climate change is rapidly becoming a matter of survival (which tied in nicely with António Guterres acknowledgment of removals at the UN yesterday) 3) policy support in the forms of incentives are a key accelerator, but they need to be fully committed, consistent over a long time and clearly communicated. 1moI think it is super important that we as societies invest forcefully into technologies that will ensure our survival and protect the environment. Can you give us a rough ratio (e.g. billion dollars per 0,1 degree of temperature fall) of how many billions we should invest into your machines to let’s say bring down global temperatures by 1 - or even better - 2 degrees? What should be the desired end result in ppm of CO2 in the global atmosphere?
