Hi everybody, I'm very sorry to have heard that Kwalee experienced job cuts today, as widely reported by the games media. Most of those same sources cited a 10% cut (~40 employees), although this has not been confirmed by the employer itself yet (citations in comments). To those gamers affected at Kwalee: 🔗 Please visit AMIRSATVAT.COM, our community's games jobs resources hub with 14 resources that will help you find work. These resources are free and updated regularly. 🔗 Resource 10 is our games org support posts. There you will find a template. If someone on your team can own populating that with information from individuals on your team, with their consent, I will get the finished product edited and out to the community, hitting 100,000 eyeballs. I have done 94 of these, working directly with games teams, and they are highly effective in increasing visibility. To our community: please do your part in making a difference. Some options include: -Spreading the word. Every reshare of this post is appreciated to raise visibility as to these situations. - Offer Support: While you certainly can do it through our community's resources (at amirsatvat.com we present 13 ways you can help), any advice lent, listening ear provided, or other support given is appreciated for those navigating these changes. - Join Our Movement: Become part of our network of volunteers at AMIRSATVAT.COM, providing support to our colleagues in the games industry. Together, our collective of over 84,000 people has enabled 1,700+ jobs and 29,000 community coaching conversations, and we're just getting started. More importantly, this network and its content seeks to provide a daily source of encouragement in this tough time.

Here are some tips for the unemployed: - Don't isolate yourself. Without work, some people become hermits. Most jobs involve some sort of social interaction, be it with co-workers or customers. For many people, the workday is also the most frequent opportunity for social interaction. Spending some time alone can be healthy; just make sure you don’t take overdo it. A lot of people feel ashamed or embarrassed about being unemployed, and as a result avoid social situations. As tempting as it may be to dodge friends and family, it can become a dangerous habit. You need support to make it through this transition with minimal stress and anxiety. Aside from that, interactions allow you an opportunity to put your worries aside and have fun. You’re dealing with enough stress—don’t you deserve a break? - Remember that social connections are your biggest resource. Another reason to stay social and engaged is that it’s one of the best ways to find your next job. When you’re struggling, the intimate seclusion found searching job lists and sending out endless resumes is enticing. While there’s nothing wrong with responding to job ads, it’s not nearly as effective as using your social network to find new opportunities. It’s like they say: sometimes it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

Community Spotlight, Post #11: Games Jobseekers, Highlight Yourselves. PURPOSE I want to break backward and tired stigmas such as the belief that those posting and still looking for work must be weaker candidates, or that those without broad support are less desirable. Such views are gross, offensive, and inaccurate, and we crossed the line of all available candidates being stars years ago. It's simply a tough market, and as far as I'm concerned, anyone identifying themselves in our community is a star. HOW THIS WILL WORK If you are a games jobseeker, please make a post in the comments highlighting yourself in any way you want. You could focus on your past accomplishments or talk extensively about what type of job you are looking for (function, seniority, location, remote flexibility, and more); I leave it up to you. If you see a games jobseeker whom you want to support, I strongly encourage you to leave a comment speaking to their talents and skills. WHO IS ELIGIBLE Anyone who is either: - Unemployed and seeking work in games (or who was in games and is seeking any work) - Recently graduated from school and looking for work in games but can't find it - A senior in college who has been looking for work in games and can't find it If you are employed, please exercise restraint, as I want to focus on those who do not have a paying job. FREQUENCY Every week on Thursdays YOUR HELP I simply ask: - Games jobseekers to engage - Those supporting them to emote and comment in support - And to anyone who thinks this is a worthwhile exercise to repost so we can maximize reach

When an unemployed person sends you a connection request on LinkedIn, it's essential to remember that they are not defined by their job title. Here are some tips to help you navigate this situation: 1⃣ Accept their connection request: Don't hesitate to accept their connection request. It's a sign of respect and a way to show that you value their interest in connecting with you. 2⃣ Don't judge someone based on their job title: Remember that everyone has their own story and struggles. Don't judge someone based on their job title or current situation. Instead, focus on their skills, experience, and potential. 3️⃣ Treat others as you would like to be treated: Treat others with kindness, respect, and empathy. Remember that you never know what someone else might be going through, and a little kindness can go a long way. 4⃣ Help as you can: If you have the means, offer to help someone who is unemployed. Whether it's providing advice, introducing them to someone in your network, or simply being a listening ear, every little bit counts. ***How to Support Unemployed Individuals on LinkedIn*** *Like, share, and comment on their posts: Show your support by engaging with their posts. This can help boost their confidence and make them feel seen and heard. *Unemployment is temporary: Remember that unemployment is temporary, and everyone goes through tough times. Be patient and understanding, and know that things will get better. *Life is unpredictable: Life is full of surprises, and sometimes things don't go as planned. Be kind and compassionate, and know that everyone is doing the best they can. ***We Rise by Lifting Others*** By lifting others up, we rise together. Let's create a supportive community on LinkedIn where everyone feels valued and respected. Let's show that we care about each other's well-being and are willing to lend a helping hand. So, the next time someone sends you a connection request on LinkedIn, remember to accept it with kindness and respect. You never know what someone else might be going through, and a little kindness can go a long way.

Making meaningful connection a habit | Building the positive BeReal | Writing the newsletter for meaningful relationships
Adding countless LinkedIn connections doesn't create a valuable network. Neither does meeting people in work or life and never speaking with them again. Instead, try to narrow those connections to the people that are more than just a profile or phone number. The ones you've • Enjoyed working with in the past • Shared experiences with in school or hobbies • Have recently met but felt you've connected well with Those are the relationships you should try to stay on top of. They can lead to business, career, and personal opportunities. But keeping up with them is easier said than done. It may take some categorization to narrow your network paired with making time to remain relevant. In tomorrow's buildbetter, I talk about my system for keeping in touch with who matters.
