ASM Journals is pleased to announce Carey-Ann Burnham, Ph.D., D(ABMM), as our newly appointed editor in chief of ASM’s fully open-access journal, ASM Case Reports, which will begin publishing case reports in 2025. Dr. Burnham is the Chief Clinical Officer at Pattern Bioscience, and a professor of pathology and immunology, pediatrics, molecular microbiology and medicine at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Burnham has held several editorial roles, including serving as an editor for the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, co-editor in chief of the Clinical Microbiology Procedures Handbook and leadership roles in professional societies, including ASM, the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute and the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists. The new editor in chief will be instrumental in shaping the direction of ASM Case Reports, exploring new diseases, intricate disease progressions, the nuanced actions and effects of pharmaceuticals and the uncharted territories of outbreaks.
