India has a very old and rich contribution to evolution of human race in many fields specially science, economics, mathematics, medicine, human consciousness and philosophy. Lot of them were too old and localised to be rediscovered in other part of world. First university, plastic surgery, binary system, trigonometric functions, algebric abbreviation, combinatorics, fibanocci. Evolution of many religions - jainism, budhism, hinduism Long list here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indian_inventions_and_discoveries

1moTakes me back to Dr. Ratliff, Davidson College in late 1980’s. With all of these advancements, including some of the best metallurgy the world has ever seen. They never seemed to care who ruled whether it was the Mongol the Portuguese or the English. It was estimated they lost 3 to 4% of their GNP over 400 years that turn them from world class to third world. England had a gold, silver bullion crisis initially after taking over from Portuguese because India’s products were so superior. So tariffs were created so no more textiles only cotton could come to England and inferior products would be sent back. One of the reasons Gandhi used the spinning wheel as his symbol for independence. The study of India’s economics has many lessons for the world to learn. Probably the most important one is the tax upon ones GNP even small can create long-term issues if ill spent or sent to other parts of the world. I look forward to India‘s return as it appears to be underway.
