1984 Olympic 2x Bronze medalist (200 & 4x100m) Thomas Jefferson and I had a friendly debate. Which US Olympic team had the most medals 1984 or 2016? This answer is a little complicated. We called our in-house track and field statition and historian Duffy Mahoney for this answer. He said 1984 won 40 medals but they put an astrik by it because Russia boycotted the 1984 Olympic Games. 2016 the U.S. competed against Russia and the rest of the world and we won 32 medals. Technically 1984 has the most but they didn’t compete against the whole world. Do you think the 1984 Olympic team won this debate or do you think 2016 Olympic Team won? #ShotDiva #TeamUSA #History #Olympians

Today is the day we are counting 100 days to the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris. An iconic fact as I think , which is not known by many of us is that exactly 💯 years ago,the Summer Olympics also took place in Paris. But, this is besides many other great stories behind the Olympic and Paralympic Games of people who make the event a great success. And as the main insurance partner, we count on the triangle of people, business and brand to make the event a memorable moment for our customers, stakeholders and employees. Nevertheless, we at Allianz are passionate about people, reason why we focus not only the insuring part but also the unifying aspect. Sports unites people around the world and this is what we should all keep in mind as a guiding principle to get the best outcome of the event of the year 2024. As one of the main communicators, I am more than happy and proud to be part of the happening.🥇 #GetReadyForTheBest #Allianz #Paris2024 #Olympics #Paralympics #ReadyParisGo

Proudly a work in progress. Experienced Senior Program Manager asking tough questions early. Always open to new ideas currently open to freelance sports writing opportunities- Olympic 2024 media credentials secured.
50 sleeps until the Olympics in Paris, 82 until the Paralympics. Just over seven weeks until the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Paris. It feels like there is still time, but equally, things are happening quickly and urgently. We know who some of the members of #TeamSA are, and we know that the squad will be cool and comfy in Mr Price Elite kit. But so much of the story is yet to be written. It's easy to get swept away in the moment and the joy of watching the team take their places, but it's difficult to express the emotions in the room. For some, this feels like their last chance; for others, potentially their first and only. Unlike in most cycles, the last Olympics wasn’t four years ago but three, and it was under heavy restrictions. Every iteration is different, but this one is quite the shift from the last. In some events, the country enjoys a historic presence and notable success over the years, such as the women’s 200-metre breaststroke with Penny Heyns winning gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and Tatjana Schoenmaker doing the same at the 2020 Tokyo Games. In contrast, Nicholas Steyn is the first South African in 16 years to compete in wrestling, an event in which South Africa has never medalled. Funding has increased—not to the level that may be required, but progress has been made. We have always had local talent, but in recent times we have had markedly more locally trained talent that competes credibly at the highest levels. Although there are still opportunities to study and train abroad, it is no longer the only option. More than that, South Africans are competing in global leagues. We've got relay teams strong enough to qualify for the Games – that wasn't always a given! We're not just unearthing rare talents; we're building whole cohorts. I'm excited, almost giddy. We talk a lot about hope in South Africa, especially in the context of sport. In 50 days (and 82 for the Paralympics), Team SA won't just bring a fresh dose of hope, they'll be living proof of it. They're the product of dreams, relentless work, and a whole nation united behind them. Personally, I can't wait. #ForMyCountry
With 50 days to go until the Opening Ceremony, the world is gearing up for an unforgettable Olympic Games #Paris2024 From Novak Djokovic and Janja Garnbret to local stars Rudy Gobert and Kevin Mayer, many big names in sport are sharing their excitement for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, France. See you in Paris on 26 July!

It's election season around the world, so who will be the IOC's next president? While not due until 2025, when the current IOC president Thomas Bach is due to stand down, insiders are already discussing who will be elected to arguably the most powerful position in world sport. There are three front runners even though lobbying has not officially begun - the UK's Lord Sebastian Coe president of World Athletics, Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry chair of the coordination commission for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, and Spain's Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr. While not yet ready for such a position, China's gold medal winning speed skater from Sochi 2014, Zhang Hong, has all the makings of a future IOC leader. #Olympics #IOC #president #OlympicPresident #sport #sportspolitics #sportsbusiness #China #sportinchina #olympicgoldmedal #Gangwon2024 #SebCoe #worldathletics #swimming #worldswimming #speedskating #pyeongchang2018
