What a wonderful meeting we had last week in Milan, hosted by RSE Spa and Paolo Mazza . This is the first post Covid meeting of Cigre A3 Strategic Advisory board with strong in-person attendance and couple of remote participants. As the power grid is transforming, the power equipment must follow suit. The job of Strategic Advisory Board is to advise our study committee where to go. That is easier said that done. The crystal ball is not so clear and possible paths are many. For example, will MV DC networks grow in the next 10 year, like what we are seeing now with HV DC? Or, how much will the role of T&D equipment change with massive penetration of renewables? The answers to these and similar questions will help us to prioritize the new work. And there will be plenty of new work. In 2024 Study Committee A3 will finish 4-5 technical brochures, we also plan to start the same number of new projects.

Today, April 23rd, an online focus group was held for stakeholders and industry representatives from Albania and Montenegro. The session was expertly facilitated by project staff from the University of Montenegro (UoM), the Institute of Transport Studies (ITS), and the University "Aleksandër Moisiu" Durrës (UAMD). 🌍🔍 In the first part of the meeting, the team provided insights into the project, focusing on energy efficiency and decarbonization. Following this, participants discussed skills they find essential in their daily work, guided by the Skills Matrix created by EU partners, including Hamburg University of Technology, the University of Athens, and ITS. 📊✨ The discussion aimed to identify skill mismatches between EU standards and current practices in Albania and Montenegro. The questions used in the focus group were derived from Deliverable 2.1 "Questionnaire/Survey to the Stakeholders," which is available online. The goal was to analyze the current state of the art, compare it with the strategic skills outlined by the matrix, and define the skill gaps to support energy efficiency and the decarbonization of processes and activities in the transport and logistics sectors.
