🎮 Terraria Continues to Dig Deep: 58.7 Million Copies Sold! Terraria, the beloved sandbox adventure, has unearthed a monumental achievement: 58.7 million copies sold worldwide! Re-Logic, the game's developer, celebrated this milestone on their forums, reflecting on Terraria's incredible journey since its launch in May 2011. 🖥️ PC Reigns Supreme Nearly 32 million of those sales come from the PC market, highlighting Terraria's enduring popularity on its original platform. 💰 Sales Spike Terraria's growth trajectory is impressive. Just three years ago, it had surpassed 35 million copies sold, demonstrating a significant sales jump in recent times. 🙏 Gratitude from the Developers "We are beyond humbled and thankful for your continued support," expressed Re-Logic. "It is the force that drives us every day to make even more awesome Terraria experiences." 🏆 A Top Seller Across Platforms This milestone places Terraria as the eighth best-selling game of all time across platforms, narrowly trailing Red Dead Redemption II's 63 million copies. This feat is even more remarkable considering Terraria's absence on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. 🤔 The Future of Terraria While there's no official word on porting Terraria to these newer consoles, Re-Logic seemingly doesn't have any reservations about the possibility. Tencent's free-to-play shooter Synced is shutting down its servers on September 9, 2024, just one year after launch. The news, announced by developer Next Studios (owned by Tencent) on Steam, offers no explanation for the closure. Players will still be able to access Synced and their in-game items until the termination date. However, the future seems bleak as the game received a "mixed" rating on Steam, with recent reviews leaning heavily towards "mostly negative." While some players enjoyed the core gameplay, technical issues plagued the experience. Matchmaking problems and a perceived lack of players frustrated the community. SteamDB data paints a grim picture - a peak concurrent player count of 10,272 ten months ago has dwindled to a mere 25 as of today. 🤔 This news serves as a reminder of the competitive nature of the free-to-play market. Launched in late June, the title amassed a staggering 10 million players within its first week. 🎯 Launch Day Domination: The First Descendant's popularity was evident from day one. On Steam alone, the game reached a peak of 264,860 concurrent players, showcasing its immediate appeal. While Microsoft and Sony keep player numbers under wraps, it's clear The First Descendant has a global audience. 🙏 Nexon Expresses Gratitude: Nexon acknowledged this immense player base, stating, "We've reached 10 million players, thank you all for your tremendous support and love. It means everything to us. We will do our best to bring you great experiences. What a lovely Develop this year! I only managed to come down for a day due to my schedule, but it was truly amazing to see some familiar faces and making new friends. My top 3 things from Develop:Brighton 2024: 🥇 Having a breakfast coffee with Harry Phokou, without crocs (I know!! I never thought that was possible either! 😂 ) 🥈 Meeting with the lovely team at Pragma for lunch and sharing war stories about live service games and the immediacy of data (that is a thing!) 🥉 Making new friends and catching up with old ones: Selim Ozturk, Laura D. García, Emma Smith (Pg Dip CIPD), Cassie Impey, Karen Troop and Venezia G. to name a few! 🏅 I also had a wonderful experience with a few people coming up to me and mentioning they enjoyed my content on LinkedIn and deeply appreciated my Games Jobs Resources! That definitely made my day! 🎮 SHIFTUP, the South Korean developer behind the acclaimed action game Stellar Blade, has made a record-breaking entrance onto the stock market! The Seoul-based company's initial public offering (IPO) soared nearly 50% on its first day of trading, raising a whopping 435 billion won ($320 million). This marks the largest IPO for a video game company in South Korea over the past three years. 📈 Shift Up's achievement is especially impressive considering it surpasses the $50 million mark, a feat not seen in the Korean gaming industry since PUBG developer KRAFTON Inc.'s $3.8 billion IPO in 2021. Overall, Shift Up's IPO stands as the second-largest in South Korea for 2024, only behind HD Hyundai Marine Solution Co.'s offering. Shift Up plans to leverage the IPO proceeds to diversify its game portfolio, paving the way for exciting new projects. Founded in 2013, the company boasts a strong foundation under Hyung-Tae Kim, its current largest shareholder, and with Tencent Holdings as the second-largest. Analysts cite Shift Up's proven track record, promising future prospects, and financial stability as key reasons for their success. Stellar Blade, released for PlayStation 5 earlier this year, has already achieved critical acclaim, selling over 1 million units worldwide and receiving praise for its exceptional combat mechanics.
