📣 PSA on Hispanic recruitment 1️⃣ While most people think of “Hispanic” as a single category, it isn’t a single culture. Traditions, priorities, behaviors, food, music, race and even language vary widely across countries and regions. If you’re doing research to recruit Hispanic populations, you have to include representation from as many cultures and backgrounds as you can to be truly inclusive. You'll be shocked at the differences in language alone. 2️⃣ Speaking Spanish does not qualify someone to write content for your materials (just like it doesn’t in English). I can’t tell you how many incorrect things I’ve seen out there, some even created by the best universities and agencies. Writing content requires specific skills. Writing content for a Spanish-speaking audience requires those same skills PLUS multicultural awareness, knowledge of universal Spanish, and more than conversational fluency. Hire a professional. 3️⃣ Never, ever assume affinity from identity. Let people tell you what they're interested in, do not assume they'll be interested only or primarily in Hispanic-related content because of their background. #hispanicmarketing #spanish #enrollmentmarketing

Helping Non-Native English Leaders in Clinical Studies with Effective English Communication Skills and Empowering Mindset.
Fridays are good. Almost the weekend. 👇 When I was at school, Fridays were my favourite. To be honest, they still are. Especially Friday evenings. TALKING OF SCHOOL; this is a photo of me at school. Can you guess where I am in the photo? LET ME TELL YOU why all the kids were wearing fancy costumes. We were taken to the big stage in the city theatre and performed traditional dances. I remember it was a lot of fun. TURNING OUR ATTENTION TO THE WORDS IN CAPITAL LETTERS, why do you think, I’m highlighting them? 👉 These are connectors. They help you transition from one topic to another. When you are in a meeting and need to move on to the next topic, you can use some of the following ones: "With that, we can proceed to..." "Here's some supporting data..." "Now, moving on to..." "Next up, we have..." "Let's shift our focus to..." "To recap what we've covered..." "In conclusion..." "So, to wrap up this section..." 👉 If you’d like to improve your English for meetings, contact me. At the end of October, I'm starting a short, GROUP PROGRAM for non-native English leaders in clinical research and clinical trials who want to become better English communicators and advance their careers in global settings. There are only 4 spaces available. It will cover 5 essential areas that you need to be fluent in. There is a BONUS to win! If you're interested, send me a message, and I will share all the details with you. 👉 What’s your favourite day of the week? _____________________________ I’m Adriana. I provide guidance and tailored courses (1:1 or small groups) to Non-Native English Leaders in Clinical Research and Clinical Trials who want to advance their careers, feel more confident and accomplished, using English as a tool. In communication, the receiver is important because that is the person that needs the information. So it's necessary to speak in the language of that person. Take for instance, you are a Native English speaking teacher and you have to work with a group of Spanish students. Speaking English to them would mean ineffective communication because they don't understand English. You might need to get a translator to translate to Spanish for the students to understand, only then is communication established. The same thing applies to Health communication. Lets take another instance that you own a women's health company and your target audience are women from age 18 - 55 in Africa. Speaking to this category would mean writing blogs, newsletters or ad copy in a writing style and tone that connects to women living in Africa. This might sound tricky, but it's very easy. That's why Prolific Pages is here to help. We are here to help you speak directly to your target audience in the "language" they understand. #healthcarestartups I hope you learned something today Remember to follow Prolific Pages for more Health communication insights.

Communications Officer @ UNHCR, UN Refugee Agency | Strategic Communicator | Bridging the gap between the experts and their audiences
Speak the language of your audience. Literally. There's a compelling reason why the best musicians and politicians incorporate a few sentences in the language of the country they're performing in or addressing. When we hear our native language in an international context, it triggers an unconscious sense of connection and engagement. This week, I facilitated a technical webinar for a diverse group of colleagues, including participants from Latin America and Francophone Africa. As we reached the Q&A segment, that moment every facilitator fears unfolded: "It's your chance to ask the presenters any questions you may have," I announced, only to be met with a prolonged and daunting silence. When my prepared backup question still didn’t get the group moving, I decided to try a different approach. Once more, I invited the participants to pose their questions, but this time, I addressed them in Spanish and French. It was like witnessing magic unfold. Suddenly, the chat lit up with comments, and several virtual hands shot up. In the end, the session had to be extended by over 15 minutes just to address all the questions pouring in. Next time you present to an international group, give it a try. Make an effort to speak a few words in the native languages of your audience. You'll be amazed at how it can instantly lighten up the room. #Presentations #PresentationSkills #PresentationTips #PublicSpeaking #Facilitation
