Today we are going to talk about the Gas Lift artificial lift method. Gas lift is one of the main lifting methods artificial and the one with the highest oil production in the undo. One of the explanations for its use is due to the robustness and simplicity of this method, without vibrating or rotating mechanisms that could cause failures and lead to the need for interventions in the well. The physical principle of the gas lift is to reduce the average specific mass of the fluids in the vertical or inclined sections. In the animation, you can see that the gas is injected into the annulus (space between the inner wall of the production casing and the outer wall of the production column), and through a mandrel, positioned at a strategic point in the production column, this gas enters the interior of the production column mixing with the produced oil. The injected gas, when it comes into contact with the oil, reduces the average specific mass of the fluids in the vertical or inclined sections, and thus makes it possible for the produced oil to become lighter and to flow easily. I am lost the gas is injected through the production casing down the annulus, there is a packer before the perforated zone. My question how does the gas gets to crude tru annulus when there is a packer b4 perforated zone
This is a good animation, will be perfect if its covers the initial process on each gas loft valve when it start to reduce the hydrostatic and finally goes to orifice as showing.
bonjour M.khaled j'ai lu votre commentaire pour la remontée du brut si jia bien compris mais une autre méthode naturelle c'est de procéder à des perforations intermédiaire sur les poches à gaz et le tour est joué le brut sera lifté sur lui même et remonte en surface cette pratique on l'a etulise sur un puits à hassi cherguu 2 et les résultats étaient positif et la production du brut à augmenté mais la condition principale il faut que le réservoir sera mixte pétrole et gaz.

Very interesting method, the principle is about the same when we open a soda. However, it is not always possible to pump gas to depth due to high hydrostatic pressure. I would like to hear about the same method, but with the use of starting valves on the pump compressor pipes
I am remembering at this moment the operations to fish the gas lift valves with the kickover tool with slick line. Slick liners are all experts.

I would not say the principle is to reduce the average specific mass (i.e. density), because a lower density does not necessarily transport more fluid (at pure gas density it transports none). Rather, the key principle is that the rising bubbles carry fluid with them, causing it to rise. There is an optimum gas flow to maximize the fluid carried. The ease with which it flows is similarly based on its viscosity not its density. High viscosity foam lock for example will reduce the flow even though the density is lower.
