Important signal coming out of the EU today. With the unveiling of the European Wind Power Action Plan, the necessary foundation is being provided to build a European wind industry that is resilient and globally competitive – something we urgently need to navigate the perfect storm currently affecting the wind industry. In a nutshell, the plan addresses five key points: ➡️ Acceleration of permitting processes ➡️ Inclusion of mandatory qualitative criteria in auction designs both as pre-qualification and award stages ➡️ Introduction of inflation compensation and stopping the impact of negative bidding ➡️ On Finance, more targeted funding for the wind supply chain and access to de-risking tools are equally important as the access to counter-guarantees from the European Investment Bank ➡️ Creation of a level playing field in the European Single Market The decisiveness with which the European Commission has acted demonstrates that the EU can deliver a more prosperous Europe. But this is only just the beginning. It is now up to the EU, its Member States, and the whole wind power sector to work together to commit and implement the proposed measures of the action plan. A healthy wind industry is fundamental for Europe to achieve its climate targets and build a resilient energy system. Time is of the essence. #windenergy #europe #energytransition #cleantech #europeangreendeal

while cooperstion is key to reach the huge global goals there are for offshorewind, one thing is for sure: USA WILL need a domestic supply chain, because in a couple of years from now all EU suppliers will be completely booked out! And if USA does not want to be flooded with CHINESE foudations or turbines (they have huge (over) capacities) you ‚d better start building up a national supply chain . WHAT WILL JUSTIFY INVESTMENTS IN A DOMESTIC SUPPLY CHAIN? steady reliable and large project pipeline thanks Sloane Perras for sharing
Last week, the Delegation of the European Union to the United States hosted an event at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, "Offshore Wind: Better Cooperation, Better Regulation." The panel discussion featured Vineyard Offshore, DEME Group, WindGrid and Sloane Perras VP at Foss Offshore Wind. Public and private sector stakeholders discussed EU-US collaboration opportunities in the offshore wind sector and their vision for the future of offshore wind. #fossoffshorewind #newbedford

Senior Manager, focused on applying High-Reliability Organizational principles in the critical infrastructure world
"The European Union is planning to unveil measures to help its ailing wind sector next month, after supply-chain bottlenecks and higher financing costs have put a brake on projects." "The package is set to accelerate permitting for wind projects, help ensure stable supplies and improve the existing rules on auctioning, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said last week. It’s due on Oct. 24, according to diplomats with knowledge of the matter, and the EU’s executive arm will probably opt for a strategy or weave changes into regulations already being considered by lawmakers rather than present brand new legislation." #windenergy #energy #electricity #energytransition #energypolicy #infrastructure #transmission #distribution #resilency #energysecurity
