Exciting news! ARPA-E just announced a new $36M funding opportunity under the TEOSYNTE program, which aims to cut nitrous oxide emissions by 50% from the cultivation of corn and sorghum used for U.S. ethanol production 🌱.  "Given the importance of agriculture to the energy sector and our economy, technologies that reduce fertilizer-related energy emissions associated with ethanol, while shrinking operational costs and maintaining crop yields for the American farmer, are essential," said ARPA-E Director Dr. Evelyn Wang.    💡 Learn how TEOSYNTE is shaping the future of sustainable agriculture here: https://lnkd.in/e4aNAMcN.

Fresh off our $63.5M SCALEUP announcement, ARPA-E T2M Advisor Dr. Dave Nye visited AeroShield Materials at their pilot facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.     As one of the SCALEUP selectees, AeroShield is piloting the manufacturing of double pane insulated glass units featuring ultra-clear silica aerogel, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings.   Interested in the other #ARPAESCALEUP 2023 selectees? ARPA-E Program Director Dr. Halle Cheeseman recently visited OPEN 2021 awardee Columbia University to check out their groundbreaking work on sodium-based long-duration batteries. These innovative batteries, which could be manufactured using traditional methods, promise significantly lower costs compared to state-of-the-art batteries. Excitingly, this research has led to the creation of a new start-up, Standard Potential Co., which aims to commercialize this transformative tech.
