I can’t love, support or encourage this idea enough. Leaders that truly desire to build something great start with those helping them pour the foundation and lay the bricks not just those with the clipboard in their hands or the loudest mouths in the room. Humble hearts often have untapped strength that can add tremendous value to the teams and organizations they serve. It is very special when you find this in those that are also ambitious.

And if you read enough LinkedIn posts, apparently everyone leads perfect lives. You know what I like about Russian culture? They've seen the worst of humanity for hundreds of years. No one tells them "fake it and put on a smile." If you're going through hard times, you endure. You take solace in what really matters. Not your material possessions, not your VP title. You get through the rough patches with a quiet dignity. There is something to be said for that.

I appreciate this insight. There are also those who do not seem to display behaviors we may generally associate with arrogance but who oversell their abilities, which can be misleading. There are others who do the opposite and may appear less accomplished or less capable simply because they may not want to set expectations too high and therefore, leave little chance for disappointment. It helps when we as observers are mindful of what might influence our preferences about people—we delve deeper by unearthing intentions and by understanding the truth behind the obvious

Right you are! Pity more employers didn't recognize this in the past. Maybe they still don't.
