The latest cruise ship trend, Drag Queen residency, has been reported in Cruise Critic. This trend gained additional momentum when Scarlet Lady, the first ship in Virgin Voyages fleet, announced that Drag Queens will take up residence at the ship's Razzle Dazzle restaurant during a fun brunch experience.
TBI worked with a talented group of Drag Queens during our New Years Eve production shown in the UK on ITV. The Barbie themed act received huge acclaim. Featuring Kitty Scott-Claus, Baga Chipz, Cheryl Hole, Tayce.
TBI’s advice is that Creative Director and Show Producers should start to follow some guidelines to get the best from this genre of performance. It starts with drag, but the show can be much more than that:
1) First impressions, allow ample hair and make-up and hair prep.
2) Wardrobe, costume changes add glamour and interest.
3) Story, create a story arc for the performance.
4) Individualism, each artist is unique, build show stopping moments where each performer has the chance to shine.
5) Comedy, including sarcasm, is a must.
6)Variety counts, spoken word, music, and dance.
