Social Prescribing and Personalised Care Lead at Brighter Living Partnership Passionate about Personalised Care | Advocate for finding the joy in life | Building a team of compassionate and wonderful humans
I’ve been managing teams for over 10 years now and one thing I’ve come to learn is the importance of a good induction. I’ve always felt that capitalising on a new employees enthusiasm is essential as too often I’ve seen new staff sat twiddling their thumbs waiting for the role to “properly” start or given a great big employee handbook to work through by themselves. Or the opposite, thrown in the deep end to learn on the job, whilst not feeling supported but also feeling unable to admit they are struggling in a new role. As a line manager I want my new starters to come away from their first few weeks feeling energised and excited to get stuck in. I think for many Link Workers we’ve been thrown in the deep end a bit in this new role trying to find our feet so It’s great to be able to use the new National Academy for Social Prescribing induction guide in my latest recruitment to support the process. Clearly they have listened to the feedback of Link Workers on what a good induction looks like to produce their guide. I’m looking forward to their webinar on the 6th Feb for further discussions on this topic. #socialprescribing

#Surfacedisposal (EN ⤵) The safety of the management solutions we propose is always soundly based on studies, experiments and technical demonstrations. But how can they be optimised while guaranteeing reliable results? Erik Coppens, one of our concrete specialists, explains the Design of Experiments (DOE) approach, applied to the management of radioactive waste. Two examples will help you see things more clearly: the study on the sensitivity of concrete and the study on the sorption of plutonium in concrete.
