How long did it take you to qualify? 🤔 Spoken with a few candidates this week, all of which are qualified professionals. I know when it comes to your ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications, there is no time limit on when you should complete all exams… or is there? Some of these candidates have a textbook education, after finishing their degree they secured a role with study support and was able to fully qualify as an accountant within 2/3 years. 🎓 But what if you don’t have study support? For some candidates who are self-studying and self-funding their exams, qualifying can take a little longer. Now I don’t see this as an issue as clearly these candidates have the same work ethic and ability as those who qualified sooner, so why is there prejudice? I think that as being a qualified accountant can open you up to many more opportunities and a much higher salary, there is often a race to complete their exams as fast as possible. Don’t get me wrong, it’s in your best interest to qualify as soon as possible, but I never understood discrediting candidates with unconventional qualifications and longer study periods. Some of these candidates I find are more capable and have a stronger drive to succeed than other candidates taking the traditional route. Now, I’m no accountant and I’m not qualified so would be interested to see what everyone thinks of this, have you noticed any education or qualification prejudice? #searchive #accountant #hirinng #finance #qualified

Anyone else got that Friday feeling? 😂 Well, when you’re #accountancy student revising for your upcoming exams, I’m sure you do! So many of our students do an amazing job balancing their personal lives, professional careers, and studies for their qualifications. Sometimes, I wonder how they do it all. I remember when I had to do the same thing for my accounting qualification. I’ll be the first to tell you it was EXHAUSTING, and I had it easy as I was given weeks off work for courses, unlike many people! So, to all of you who resonate with this meme. Here’s some advice: You will get there and keep going! Know when you need to take a break, but also remember to be strict with yourself. Stick to a revision plan and be organised. It will all be worth it in the end when you’re professionally qualified! #CIMA #CGMA #CIMAstudent #AccountingMeme #AccountingStudent

Director & Recruitment Specialist @ StormX | Recruitment Consultancy - Helping Businesses find the 'right' talent for Accountancy vacancies
Does your business offer ''study support ''or ''Support with Study''?? Sounds the same right? But its a completely different mind set and offering. Attracting people who have intentions to start or continue with studying towards AAT, CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualifications has huge benefits to your business. Nurturing and developing your own staff can impact not just from a cost perspective, but can help with stability and help manage longer term career development and succession planning. The cost obviously is key, especially when it can cost £000's per year, with exams, study material, etc. However we are seeing a trend of people now wanting to know what else is offered. Such as... - How many days off are given for revision or the day of exam (outside of holiday allowance? - Do you have a mentorship programme or allocated internal training? - What's the policy on retakes? - Incentives to pass exams? These small details dont cost anymore (apart from the days out of office) but can create a better platform and environment for people to feel like they are actually being 'supported' as they study instead of been given a cheque and told to get on with it! We have found the more clients who offer a more inclusive and supportive environment have seen afar greater retention level not when these people have qualified but actually during their studies. If you would like to discuss more ideas or insights on this topic or other recruitment consultancy then get in touch today. james@stormx.co.uk StormX Recruitment - Accountancy & Finance/HR/ Office Support Specialist Recruiters #studysupport #cima #aca #acca #aat #Studysupport
