DataStage Developer @TCS | Data Warehouse Specialist | Certified SAFe Agilist | Team Lead | PySpark | Delta Lake | Excel | Power BI | Data Engineer
Hi All, I caught-up a situation in my work which required to extract all DataStage jobs into an XML files from my current project so I could see more then 350+ jobs which takes almost 2-3 working days if we do export one at a time. If we export all of them into one time that may take 5-10 mins but we cannot use the individually. So I found a way to split big one XML into small individual DataStage job XML's. To achieve that I develop a Code Snippet in Unix Shell Scripting. I hope this will help someone. Script Name: Separate_XML.ksh All XML file Name : project.xml Way to run: Separate_XML.ksh project.xml Separate_XML.ksh #! /bin/bash set -x # Define the input XML file input_file=/home/user/$1 # Extract job tags fom the input XML file start_lines=$(grep -n "<Job Identifier=" $input_file | cut -d ":" -f 1) # Loop through each extracted job tag for line_number in $start_lines; do # Extract the JobName from the job tag job_name=$(sed -n "${line_number}p" $input_file|cut -d '"' -f 2) # Write the job tag to a Separate XML file like jobName.xml sed -n "$line_number,/<\/Job>/p" "$input_file" > /home/user/project/${job_name}.xml echo ${file_name}.xml Created done
