We recognize this legislation as a catalyst for innovative technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions and restoring our planet's biodiversity. 📌We believe this law mandates comprehensive restoration plans and will create a fertile ecosystem for emerging technologies in carbon capture, sustainable agriculture, and nature as an attractive financial asset class. 👇Here’s how we see these changes shaping the future of carbon reduction investing: 1. Accelerated Development of Carbon Capture Technologies: This law provides the regulatory certainty needed to commercialize carbon. In 2023, the announced capture capacity for 2030 increased by 35%, while announced storage capacity rose by 70%. This is only 40% and 60%, respectively of the 1 Gt CO2 per year of Net Zero Emissions by 2050 (NZE) Scenario. (Source IEA) 2. Ecosystem Management and Biodiversity: The EU has committed €20 billion annually to biodiversity spending through various sources. Tech-driven initiatives for reforestation, wet/dryland restoration, and marine ecosystem conservation will gain momentum. Investments in AI, remote sensing, and drone technology for monitoring and managing these projects will see significant upswings. 3. Nature as a Financial Asset class: According to the World Bank, natural capital accounts for 36% of the wealth in low-income countries and 23% in lower-middle-income countries. After reviewing over 700 applications, we've selected impactful initiatives that align with our vision for a sustainable future. Here are some highlights: -Ulysses (Western Australia): Restoring thousands of hectares of seagrass meadows using innovative robotic technology. -Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco (Ecuador): Reforesting 400 hectares with 200,000 native trees to protect biodiversity hotspots. -Justdiggit Digital regreening (Africa): Developing a mobile app to provide regreening techniques to farmers, promoting sustainable land management. 🔋 Emission reductions: From over 200 applications, we selected projects that strike a balance between high impact and measurable outcomes: -Precision Development (PxD) (India): Optimizing nitrogen fertilizer use among smallholder rice farmers to reduce nitrous oxide emissions. -LUMS/Neubolt (Pakistan): Introducing Electric Three-Wheelers with renewable energy-powered battery swapping stations for sustainable mobility. -Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc.(South Africa): Transitioning hospitals to renewable energy to significantly reduce emissions. 🌐 Our Impact: Since 2021, the Climate Transformation Fund has supported 30 projects worldwide. By the end of this year, we expect to have distributed over $13 million to more than 45 climate projects.
