🤔 Can technology tackle climate change? 🎪 As the banners and stands are taken down at Messe Berlin, and IFA Berlin packs up for another year, what ideas will the delegates take back to their organizations? 📝 Here are a few takeaways scribbled down whilst chairing the sustainability village for 4 days... 🌿 "Circularity is always with partners." - Supply chains are complex, and getting sustainability right is hard. Even a *perfect* circular economy has a degree of waste product, so finding partners you can trust, and share your ideals is key. 🌿 "That's nice, is it new?" needs to be made redundant - I'm a sucker for all things *new*, yet the most sustainable phone is the one you own. Whether it's tech, clothes or other consumer goods we need to embrace the ideals of maintenance and repair. 🌿 Innovation leads sustainability - You can't regulate what doesn't exist. To be greener we need to support and cultivate new ideas. 🌿 There's no time like the present - Urgency is key. I was lucky enough to attend the Spark for Business  #FutureState conference, earlier this month. Here are some of my (and my colleagues) highlights and insights from the event: 🙌 Virtue matters. Just like all tools, AI makes everything faster, stronger, smarter - for good and bad. It needs to be guided by virtues like grace, compassion, generosity, love. Who ever thought you’d hear about love at a tech conference? Noelle R. 🔖 Regulation matters. Governments failed to regulate the social media giants. Let’s not let that happen again. The tech is too powerful to be left to markets alone. Scott Galloway 💥 Ambition matters. IKEA was jolted into sustainable actions through bad PR. But now has caught the bug, setting bold targets to be fully circular. It’s gone from green shame to green ambition. Håkan Nordkvist 💡 In a time of transformation, when we need to move beyond business as usual, we need to employ the “crazy thinkers" and the innovators. 🌐✨ CIRCULAZE Event Recap ✨🌐 I attended the CIRCULAZE event in Munich alongside my colleagues Nick Huijs and Michael Schmidt, and we dove headfirst into the discussion surrounding the Circular Economy. Here are the highlights 🚀 Pitch Perfect: It was a great privilege to take the stage and talk about circuly and the circular economy. It was a rewarding experience that I had been excited about ever since I knew I’d be attending. 🎤 Echoes of Brilliance: I shared the stage alongside Dr. Auma Obama (Sister of former President Mr. Barak Obama, International Keynote Speaker, Founder and author), Dr. Benedikt Franke (Vice-Chairman and CEO at Munich Security Conference) and Prof. Dr Martin Stuchtey (Founder and Co-CEO, The Landbanking Group) and caught the symphony of ideas of many young innovative #startups whose innovative approaches to #sustainability were a breath of fresh air.
