Mating parts by aligning planes

- [Instructor] In this video we're going to be talking about mating components together using their fundamental planes. Now when you create a brand new part, the first thing that's available are the three fundamental planes and the origin. So if you use any one of those things to mate together with another component, those mates are basically bulletproof. There's nothing you can do to destroy those mates because those are attached to those fundamental items that happen to be in every single part. So you can literally mate two things together using their fundamental planes, delete all the geometry and all the features, and those mates will still be there. So let me show you how to do it. Now we have looked at this already a little bit using the Q command. The Q commands a shortcut to be able to get in and use some of these planes. So I definitely recommend trying to use those planes as much as you possibly can. They're the strongest of all the mate types. So first things first, let's…
