Creating component Mates

- [Instructor] At this point in time in the course, we're going to dive a little deeper into the assembly environment and start using the mate command to connect these components together. And I'm going to cover all the basic mates that we might be using. So the first thing you do when you're bringing in components, we generally drag and drop components into our assembly. So now you have a bunch of components that are just kind of floating around here in space. I can left mouse click on 'em, move them around, and so on. Now this one over here, I can't move it because it's fixed. So that's my first starting point. And notice right over here in the tree, it has that little F in front of it, which means that is a fixed component. Now you can always change from fixed to float, right click on it and say float right here. We'll make it floating as well. But it's always a good idea to have one component as the fixed component.
