- Sales managers are highly sought after because of their ability to manage one of the company's most important assets, it's sales force. The most effective sales managers generate the most effective sales results. For many companies, the first line sales manager is the most important job in the company. So here are some guidelines on how to continue developing your career in sales management. When I give career advice, I remind people to never let a year go by without developing some part of your professional skillset. First, look for opportunities to broaden your skills and experience.
