Welcome to Raspberry Pi Essential Training

- Hi, welcome to Raspberry PI Essential Training. I'm Mark Niemann-Ross and I've designed this course to help you get a Raspberry PI up and running, ready to read switches and blink lights. I'll show you the members of the Raspberry PI family and give you some pointers on which version might work best for you. We'll walk through how to install and use the Raspberry PI operating system, including how to build a bootable SD card. I'll demonstrate how to use Python and Scratch to control electronics with a general purpose input and output pins. And did you know that the Raspberry PI can run without a keyboard, mouse, or a monitor? We'll spend time with VNC and SSH, both of which can be used for embedded computing and the Internet of Things. There is even a version of the Raspberry PI operating system for desktop computers and we'll look at that as well. The Raspberry PI is unlike any other computer you've ever used before. It combines Linux with the ability to experiment with electronics. So join me for Raspberry PI Essential Training.
