- [Narrator] Material master records are the sole source of information about materials that are procured, produced, stored, or sold at a company. There are a ton of different fields available in the material master that could be important to a company depending on their needs. For our purposes, we're going to look at how to create a finished product that can be sold to our customers. To do this we'll go into transaction code MM01 and press enter. This brings us to the Create Material Initial Screen. The first field is material. This is what we're going to call the material. Organizations usually have very specific naming conventions for their materials. We're creating a small steel plate. So we'll call our material SSP01. Next is the material type field. This is an extremely important field because it determines exactly what kind of material we're creating. Again, we want to create a material that is a finished good that we can sell.
