Rename the parts (Annotate)

- [Instructor] When making a schematic in OrCAD Capture, part names and reference designators change all the time. If you renamed all parts on your own, there's an increased chance the wrong part could get ordered or the schematic may confuse another engineer. Luckily, Capture has a tool that automatically renames all the parts so you don't have to. Notice how the part names for the diodes start at D7, eight and nine but we only have three diodes in the project. Likewise, for the connectors, we go all the way from J16 to 19 but there are only a few connectors in the design. Capture's annotate tool will fix this for us. Go to your Project tab, then select your design file. Next, select Tools and choose Annotate. To update every part in the schematic, regardless of name, choose Unconditional Reference Update. Click OK, you'll get a prompt, choose Yes. You'll get another prompt, hit OK. Now when we check the schematic again, the parts of the correct order of reference designators…
