Navigating the file system

- [Instructor] Let's take a look at how to navigate the file system in the terminal. I'll rearrange my desktop here to show how the terminal commands and the folder structure are related to each other. I'll press F11 to take my terminal out of full screen mode and I'll stick it to the side of the window here. I'll clear its contents and then I'll open the files application and position it here to the right. In the top bar of the files application, I'll toggle the view to list and then I'll go into Preferences. And under List View, I'll choose, allow folders to be expanded. Here in the File browser, I'll navigate to my Exercise Files which are under Documents and then Exercise Files. In this graphical structure, I can pretty easily see what folder I'm working in. Likewise, over here in the terminal, we can see which folder we're working in as part of the prompt. Remember, this tilde character right here represents…
