- [Instructor] Let's look at Windows IoT Core. Windows IoT Core was rooted from the embedded version of Windows which can be dated back to 1998. As an optimized version of Windows 10 for embedded devices, Windows 10 IoT Core enables the IoT solutions in the Windows ecosystem. The current support of processors is based on Arm x86 and x86-64. One of the important features of Windows 10 IoT Core is its support for Universal Windows Platform, which is basically an application architecture created by Microsoft for Windows 10. It means that you can use the Visual Studio to create one universal application that runs across various Windows 10 devices such as smart sensors, gateways, mobile phones, and tablets. Windows 10 IoT Core also comes with some out-of-the-box support. For security features, the cloud connectivity with the Microsoft Azure integration, and some development boards including the Raspberry Pi two and three boards with Arm Cortex-A series processors, as well as Intel boards.
