- [Instructor] With the introduction 2 of the XLOOKUP function a couple of years ago, 3 older uses of the VLOOKUP function, 4 the HLOOKUP function 5 and the combination of index and match, 6 probably need to be reevaluated. 7 Those functions still work and will work for a long time, 8 but XLOOKUP often is better and faster. 9 Remember, XLOOKUP can handle all the capabilities 10 of both VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP and a lot more. 11 Imagine these two lists gathered separately. 12 We're trying to pull in the salary information in column D 13 based on the list to the right, 14 but the names are entered differently. 15 Now we can use VLOOKUP here 16 to pull together those names 17 and then match it with the data over in column F. 18 So we first grab the last name out of B2, 19 using concatenation techniques with the ampersand symbol, 20 double quote comma space, 21 'cause all the names have that in column F. 22 And the data…
