- [Teacher] On this worksheet, 1950 to 2020, we're comparing state populations of all the states in the United States and we're showing a gain here, not on the basis of the population having grown or the amount it's grown certainly, but the rating or the ranking based on these two lists. California used to be the second largest state, at least in 1950. Now they're the first largest. We see what's happened with Texas. They've gained four positions and so on and so on. And to calculate this kind of information, we could have sorted the data and come up with a formula that way. It's going to be easier to use a function called rank. And although not necessarily associated with the function rank, we also will be using a function called Let. It's a programming like capability. And I want to use it to show its power in simplifying what could be outrageously long formulas. Let's first look at a list on the leftmost worksheet…
