- [Instructor] This is how I worked my way to a solution for my Subwoofer Audio Filter. To determine the cut-off frequency of a simple RC filter, I'll use the equation that the cutoff frequency is equal to one over two PI RC. My target cutoff frequency is 150 Hertz. So now I just need to pick values for R and C that make this a quality work. I'll start the process by picking a resistor first, since the audio source has a very small output impedance, I want to use a fairly large resistance value to avoid overloading the audio source. So I'll choose a 10 kilo ohm resistor from my parts kit that will give my filter an input impedance that's significantly larger than the output impedance of the source, which is only a few ohms. So it'll maximize the transmission of the voltage signal from the source to my filter. 10 kilo ohms is also a small enough value that it shouldn't significantly impact the signal transmission from the…
