Company Description: Based in the heart of Manhattan’s garment district, this well-established company designs, manufactures, and markets women’s apparel under a well-known family of brands and has a significant market share in its apparel product categories, with distribution through all major department stores and specialty stores. 


Position Overview: Production Assistant is an entry level wholesale apparel production position that assists in executing the product life cycle through accurate data entry, timely follow up and office support. It is the perfect way to start in the apparel business. Recent fashion school graduates with major in or internship experience production will be considered. This is a multi-faceted role that regularly interacts with the design and sales teams and overseas vendors to ensure that the products are priced and manufactured to meet design aesthetic and quality standards. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and detail-driven, organized, and is equipped to multi-task and assist in all things relating to wholesale apparel production. 


Responsibilities:

  • Create Costing Chart for Sales Team.
  • Provide production support to the Production Manager.
  • Set up BOM's order system.
  • Track PO's from Sales Team and issue PO’s to factories.
  • Experience with WIP and inventory processes.
  • Set up and review production status reports and review delivery issues.
  • Experience in product lifecycle management tools, processes, reporting, and sample requests.
  • Track samples - photo, showroom, and fit samples.
  • Track testing reports and care/content labeling.
  • Communicate daily with overseas factories on production orders.
  • Manage flow of information for POs, costing, samples, and orders to the Design, Production and Sales Teams.
  • Handle multifaceted circumstances with courtesy and professionalism.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in production of apparel; recent fashion school graduates with a major or internships in production be considered. 
  • Attention to detail, organization and excellent computer skills required.
  • Reliable with an ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP systems; Blue Cherry is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and verbal skills required.
