Advertised Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the Web Developer is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining the web site and web-based applications for the School of Medicine Columbia ( SOMC ). Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 1 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience in web management, design and content development. Experience with other web-related technologies and knowledge areas such as content management systems, Google Analytics, SEO , Adobe Creative Suite, Formstack, AP Style, etc.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Expertise in managing complex content management systems. Understanding of best practices in web design, content architecture, and user experience. Expertise in web page/site formatting, strong organization and process management skills, excellent writing, proof reading, and editing skills. Understanding of working with brand standards. Expertise in incorporating and enhancing visual web page elements (photos, videos, etc.). Ability to distill complex information into user-friendly content. General knowledge of Google analytics and SEO . Critical thinking, attention to detail, flexibility, accountability, ability to respond quickly to emergent requests or issues also required. Expert communication skills and ability to work with users with varying levels of technical expertise. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

Leads the management, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the School of Medicine Columbia’s ( SOMC ) website. Develops expert knowledge of and operating the university’s content management system ( CMS ), Omni CMS . Ensures the site is 100% operational and up to date with current information and compelling content and visuals. Ensures compliance with ADA guidelines and regulations and performs continuous maintenance.

Manages website content requests and updates from across SOMC . Builds and launches new, user-friendly web pages and sections. Posts news stories. Writes, edits, and formats web copy for grammar, style and accuracy. Optimizes user experience and site SEO . Measures and evaluates website usage using Google analytics Site improve and other analytics
