Washington Connections Academy (WACA) is a tuition-free, virtual public school serving students in grades K-12 statewide. WACA has two schools under its umbrella of the shared-services model. It operates in partnerships with the Mary M. Knight School District and Goldendale School District and is under contract with Connections Academy to provide its educational program and other services. Both Washington Connections Academy schools are accredited by Cognia and were recognized as Cognia Schools of Distinction in 2022.
Position Summary And Responsibilities
This position is a full-time position, typically 40+ hours per week from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm each weekday, working with Washington Connections Academy. Able to regularly report to the office in Lacey, WA., the School Office Manager is responsible for managing a team of administrative assistants, and working directly with the school leadership team on daily administrative tasks such as entering data into the school or district systems and maintaining accountability for all state reporting tasks. The Office Manager will support the school's entire educational program.
Working closely with the School Leader, the Office Manager will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
Management Roles
Supervise administrative assistants who report to the office and work remotely, including individual touchbase meetings, observations, and evaluations;
Oversee the daily work of the office team, including, but not limited to records management, coordinating event logistics, enrollment tasks, truancy contacts, withdrawal processing, verifications of enrollments, processing transcript requests, receiving and sending student portfolios, handling incoming and outgoing mail etc..
Train and support administrative assistants in their roles
Design and implement professional development activities for office team
Office Roles
Serve as main contact, alongside the School Leader, for the two authorizing district partners.
Working directly with CA Facilities and local Property Manager
Maintaining and updating Office Emergency Plans
Entering data into various school and district information systems and ensure state reporting deadlines are met.
Monitoring data and processes and communicating with the office team and leadership team about the data
Maintain accurate employee and student records in school operating systems
Create and update school Standard Operating Procedures
Assist School Leadership Team as needed with daily tasks and projects
Assist families and school stakeholders with questions both on the phone and in the office
Coordinate large events like Graduation and teacher in-person events
Oversee, alongside the state testing coordinator, the logistics of state testing supplies
Community Roles
Work with school staff to coordinate and attend social activities and relevant field trips for students and families, as required within school policy. When possible, integrate field trips and social activities involving the office team
Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”
Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require staff representation

Requirements
Must be able to report to the office in Lacey, WA
Residence in Washington preferred
Team player track record, highly flexible, and with a demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated strong technology skills (especially Microsoft Office and Google Suite products, synchronous classroom programs such as Zoom, third-party educational software such as Nearpod, and data collection and examination tools, including spreadsheets and databases)
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate (listen and speak) effectively and appropriately with staff, students, and families from a wide range of cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds.
Excellent attention to detail, with proven time management and organizational skills, especially when working independently
Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues to foster and encourage an inclusive work and school environment that is supportive of different groups of individuals, including people of different races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders, and sexual orientations.
Student- and family-focused approach, with demonstrated ability to create an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment that supports and recognizes students of diverse backgrounds and identities.
Ability to travel for one, possibly two, weeks at a time for key school events, including overnight travel (including, but not limited to: back-to-school training, state testing, graduation ceremony, marketing events, and field trips)
Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication.
Based on Experience and Education, the salary ranges from $40,000-55,000
