This is a highly visible, leadership position responsible for managing a team of Sales Executives focused on delivering Health Benefit Accounts to the Employer market through direct sales as well as leveraging Distribution Channel Partners. This leader will be directly accountable for profitable growth, market strategy, market development and client satisfaction. This will include leading the development of sales and the execution of specific initiatives to achieve revenue growth and client satisfaction objectives.
A new business sales team will report directly to this individual. Success is dependent upon effective partnership and collaboration with UHC partners, Optum enterprise business units as well as Distribution Partners. The position reports to the Head of Sales for the Consumer/Employer Market.
This business leader's primary responsibility will be to deliver profitable top line revenue growth by developing and executing effective market strategies. In doing so, this leader must excel in managing sales, as well as collaboratively developing a go to market strategy.

Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading a team of Solution Sales Executives who lead the sales efforts and developing new business to Middle Market Employers either in combination with UHC Key Accounts SAEs/AEs or on a Direct basis
- Accountable for driving growth objectives for team to achieve sales quota within new business spanning Optum’s portfolio
- Enhance the client experience and overall client satisfaction, maintaining and improving Net Promoter Scores (NPS)
- Accountable for financial performance of the team
- Develop and coach sales producers to meet or exceed revenue target / business goals that are aligned with the business strategy and approaching and selling solutions to Employer groups, across a continuum of the industry's leading health benefit account products and services
- Install a high level of sales discipline, including rigorous pipeline management and the creation of thorough business plans for each team member
- Establish and drive organizational focus, direction and execution
- Recruit, hire and monitor performance of sales team, ensuring appropriate training and development is provided to newly hired employees; provide for ongoing training of staff
- Coach sales team to build effective internal / external relationships that enable them to respond quickly to emerging customer opportunities, and provide for seamless execution of the company's business processes that exceed customer expectations
- Explore new and innovative opportunities and market approach to drive growth
- Serve as executive sponsor and/or manage enterprise relationships for the largest clients with the highest potential revenue opportunity
- Cultivate and deepen C-suite and complex client relationships
- Communicate and present effectively at multiple audiences and levels (listening, written and verbal communication)
- Spend time with team located remotely - traveling to be with them and join them in market.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven experience and expertise in the healthcare, insurance or related industry
- Experience building and managing strategic client relationships and sales of health services (i.e. wellness, disease management, health coaching, case management, behavioral health, financial services, etc.) to the employer market
- Proven track record for achieving target revenue and/or sales goals
- Demonstrated success in accessing and influencing senior level and/or C-Suite clients, sophisticated customers, channels, consultants, and/or business partners in a highly matrixed organization
- Deep understanding of sales process and ability navigate and manage complex sales, solutioning and RFP process to facilitate and remove roadblocks (for sales / client executives) to close sales
- Proven ability to operate and effectively navigate in a highly complex, matrix environment with a high level of collaboration
- 10+ years of sales management, sales, account management or consulting experience
- 5+ years of experience successfully leading multi-level sales organization or business unit with ability to effectively manage individuals or teams to recruit, hire, develop and engage staff
- Experience leading teams on a national level
- Experience selling Optum Financial Services products and solutions
- Proficiency in CRM tools (ex. Salesforce) and sales methodology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
