As a VP Content Editor, you will be responsible for developing data-driven insights that position our business, win share of voice, and empower people to achieve financial freedom. You’ll take an outside-in newsroom approach to oversee and lead a team to deliver content for The Currency, Empower’s digital publication, to align and elevate Empower’s messaging. You will be responsible for maintaining the editorial voice and driving content strategy to enhance our audience engagement and growth.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver original content that differentiates, and positions Empower as a leader in financial planning, investing, and advice. Key content pillars include original research and insights, market commentary, and money trends.
  • Maintain a deep expertise on financial topics and matters relevant to U.S. consumers, workplace and personal wealth clients and customers
  • Oversee the daily operations of The Currency editorial team and weekly newsletter, including assigning, editing, and publishing content
  • Lead the editorial planning process, including the development of special reports, investigative pieces, and multimedia content at the intersection of business and culture that connects with customers, journalists, and associates
  • Drive innovation in content delivery and SEO, including the use of new formats, multimedia, and interactive elements. This includes partnering with creative teams, developers, and UX/UI for execution
  • Prepare content for Empower engagements that may include webinars, conferences, and events, developing talking points/remarks, run of show, and event preparation
  • Track and report on earned and organic growth that is attributed to content, press and social efforts in line with functional and enterprise KPIs
  • Utilize data analytics to understand audience behavior and preferences and adjust content strategy accordingly
  • Work collaboratively with Compliance on storylines for external approval
  • Develop strategies to increase audience engagement, loyalty, and subscription rates

What You Will Bring

  • 10 plus years of work experience, preferably in financial services, journalism, marketing, or a media related field, with at least 5 years in a senior editorial role
  • Adept at operating in a corporate, sales and/or agency environment
  • Experience driving and implementing promotion strategies and programs for large and complex organizations
  • Seasoned storyteller and impeccable editorial judgement with proven ability to lead a team
  • A big idea, creative thinker who is passionate about building brands
  • Proven project management and strategic planning skills
  • Experience with digital content strategies, SEO, and audience analytics
  • Strong editorial judgment and commitment to journalistic ethics and integrity

  • Demonstrable experience in writing and editing skills

Base Salary Range

$132,600.00 - $192,300.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
