The Waldorf School of Louisville (WSL) is a fee-based, independent school in Jefferson County, serving

children from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. The school was established in 1992, and has been

providing a unique curriculum that blends the arts with rigorous academics for over thirty years. The

curriculum has been successful meeting the needs of our children worldwide, for over 100 years. Waldorf

education awakens a lifelong love of learning, inspires critical thinking, and fosters emotional intelligence

in our students. We educate the whole child, guided by a deep understanding of human development.

About the Position:

The Visual Arts Teacher brings the world of Visual Arts and associated skills to grades 4-8 students.

Using visual and fine arts techniques and curriculum, the successful candidate will meet students at their

current capacities while teaching practical and aesthetics skills leading towards a rounded, holistic

education. The work is flexible in its delivery. The applicant brings their strengths to the children in each

grade so what is offered may vary. Working with the Lead Class teacher to coordinate curriculum is ideal.

For example, should the class be studying the Renaissance, the visual artwork might include the painting

of famous persons from that time period. Desired capabilities include the ability to teach drawing,

painting, sculpture and clay modeling, knitting, sewing, crocheting, etc. to students. Also, assisting

students in developing personal portfolios is included in this work.

Location & Compensation:

When not subject to local workspace closure requirements, this position is on-site at WSL’s campus,

between the hours of 11am-3pm. Organization hours are 8:00-4:00. This position involves approximately

10 hours of contact time and preparation hours per week. Compensation for the role is $18.50-$21/hr.

depending on skill and experience. This position is an hourly, non-exempt role.
