We are currently seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to provide remote interpretation services for K-12 students in Alaska. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrated experience in remote interpretation.
Responsibilities
Provide remote interpretation services for K-12 students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, utilizing American Sign Language (ASL) or other appropriate modes of communication.
Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and educational professionals to ensure the communication needs of students are fully addressed.
Accurately interpret spoken language into sign language, and vice versa, across various academic classes, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
Adapt communication style and mode to accommodate the unique preferences and needs of individual students.
Support students in enhancing their language and communication skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field.
Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
Minimum of two years of experience providing interpretation services to K-12 students.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and peers.
Prior experience with remote interpretation services and proficiency in video conferencing software preferred.
