Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

JOB TITLE: Vice President, Strategy and Business Development

JOB SUMMARY: Develops short- and long-term strategic goals and plans ensuring alignment with broader organization priorities. Utilizes metrics and organization vision to lead and direct strategic business development activities. Oversees strategy and business development activities including market research, annual strategic plans, ambulatory joint ventures, and rural health development.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the leadership team providing strategic direction on business development related issues. Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment in a matrix organization and promotes teamwork within and across the organization by maintaining positive relationships and utilizing effective problem-solving skills.
  • Develops strategies to ensure effective market positioning in alignment with system and regional direction. Enhances and develops relationships with community, employers, organizations, and groups as needed to create business development opportunities. Implements strategies to protect the organization’s market share.
  • Oversees the annual strategic, financial, and planning process. Ensures application of various strategic planning and quality improvement tools such as environmental scanning, risk assessment, portfolio analysis, capital planning competitive benchmarking, etc. Prepares, analyzes, and implements business development strategies consistent with organization strategy.
  • Develops and provides consultation to identify or assess strategies to better meet customer needs. Provides consultative services in the areas of strategic and service line development, planning, analytics, and satisfaction. Develops and implements tools to communicate trends to senior leadership.
  • Supervise the assigned area creating a culture of employee engagement. Ensures HR policies are administered consistently across function. Organizes business development through appropriate structure and delegation of functions. Identifies succession planning needs within the team.
  • Assumes fiscal responsibility through budgetary planning and implementation. Participates in capital planning, forecasting and evaluation of proposed facilities, technology and equipment. Establishes processes to ensure accurate implementation and maintenance of planning, business development, and decision support systems.
  • Participates in activities related to mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations, and other related activities. Supports the creation and expansion of health plan strategy.
  • Oversees and directs market analysis and strategic analysis. Performs market research, financial analysis and revenue building activities. Develops, presents, and implements business plans that enhance market share of centralized and decentralized services.
  • Prepares and analyzes business development and marketing strategies that engage physicians and employees. Develops and implements tools to communicate trends to senior leadership.
  • Responsible for care management program growth for adults and children in the counties MHC serves.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree

Experience

  • Ten years’ experience, with five years’ in leadership.
