Job Summary

  • The Vice President of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, fundraising, and project financing activities of the company. This role will ensure that the company’s financial strategies align with its overall business objectives and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the energy sector, particularly nuclear fission technology, and will be adept at driving financial performance and strategic growth. This position may require some travel and offers a hybrid work environment.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies to support the company’s long-term goals.
  • Collaborate with senior executives to provide financial insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support business planning and investment decisions.

Financial Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting and compliance with financial standards and regulations.
  • Present financial results and business outlook to the executive team, board of directors, and investors.

Fundraising

  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies to secure capital for the company’s projects and growth initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with investors, venture capitalists, and financial institutions.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including preparation of investment materials, negotiations, and closing deals.

Project Financing

  • Develop and manage project financing strategies to secure necessary funding for large-scale nuclear projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure financial viability and successful execution of projects.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with financial institutions and investors to optimize financing structures.

Risk Management

  • Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring adequate controls and procedures are in place.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate financial risks and enhance the company’s financial stability.
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and professional development opportunities for finance staff.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions and capital markets to secure funding and optimize capital structure.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the energy sector, investment banking sector, start-up, preferably in nuclear fission technology, or similar roles.
  • Proven track record of strategic financial planning, analysis, and reporting in a complex, project-driven environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, compliance, and risk management practices.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and drive financial performance and growth.
  • Ability to travel as needed and adapt to a hybrid work environment.
