Value Stream Director, Orthopaedics

The Director, Orthopaedic Operations Value Stream enables operations and drives efficiency across manufacturing networks. This role acts as a pivotal liaison and point of influence between manufacturing, global supply chain, commercial, and marketing teams. In this role, your primary objective is to support comprehensive network strategy that optimizes capacity, guides transfer and re-direct decisions, evaluates make vs. buy scenarios, and informs investment strategies.

What will you be doing?

  • Establish key objectives for sets deployment with partners. This role will provide input into the value stream business planning process and define the end to end strategy, collaborating with all relevant business functions
  • Serves as the interface for Commercial, Marketing and R&D facilitating E2E BU network strategy
  • Drives network activity, suggesting trade-offs based on geography and product lifecycle stage
  • Translates decisions into requirements to optimize ways of working with functions
  • Meet with key partners both internally and externally to ensure all products are available when needed.
  • Identify risks to product deployment objectives, and take ownership to resolving these issues.
  • Builds highly accurate schedules for availability and communicates the schedule to internal stakeholders.
  • Helps build an innovation pipeline that is fueled by a steady stream of high-value ideas that can be translated into profitable offerings.
  • Manage and coordinate our product development data and processes to accelerate time to market while balancing cost, quality, and compliance
  • Rapidly commercialize products with synchronized manufacturing across global manufacturing sites, and partners, working closely with NPD/R&D Teams to ensure flawless execution of New Product Launches
  • Ensure that our products are made with manufacturability in mind and call out where this isn’t the case, and support solution finding
  • Build and develope a global high functioning value stream team, through partnering with peers and influencing indirect reports
  • Build strong relationships/partnerships with cross functional stakeholders, including:
    • Commercial leaders and teams: who establish customer needs for sets
    • Site Leaders: Who establish factory plans, solutions to quality issues
    • Demand planners: who take global customer needs and develop this into an overall demand plan
    • Manufacturing supply chain leaders and teams: who set production schedules and supply plans for sets manufactured within S+N
    • Direct material buyers: who place orders for instrument components and/or purchased finished goods with external suppliers
    • Category managers: who manage long term relationships with strategic suppliers
    • Master data teams: who manage master data elements in our ERP and other data systems


Location: Memphis, remote

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education: Bachelor degree in Business, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience with a combination of leadership, operations, project management and/or data analytics
  • Experienced in leading peers and partners through complex issues with clear communication skills across a global business
  • Must have experience in conveying information and purpose in an engaging way that ensures retention of the message. Must have excellent interpersonal skills that gain confidence within the organization.
  • Experience in Medical Device and ideally in Orthopaedic

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $150,000-200,000 USD annually and the compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s qualifications. You may also be entitled to receive bonus and benefits, which may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401k, tuition reimbursement, medical leave programs, and a variety of wellness offerings.
