Job Type Full-time Description The Telecommunications Engineer ensures high quality installations, maintenance, and operation of systems sold and maintained by Van Ausdall & Farrar. This individual will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and servicing a variety of telephone equipment, installing voice circuits, security cameras, and cabling. The Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for organizing and completing the day-to-day operations assigned through project or service tickets. What You'll Do Installs, moves, repairs, or modifies telecommunication equipment according to the job specifications, standards, and procedures. Install circuits, cross connects and equipment at the customers demarcation location. Test and verify the proper operation requested by the customer Receive and handle service requests. Update the customer and close after the completion of the service requests. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Van Ausdall and Farrar staff and customers. Supports Van Ausdall and Farrar's sales staff by providing consultation on customer equipment or manufacturer's best practice. What You'll Bring to the Role High school diploma or equivalent required plus a minimum of 4 years of experience in installation or maintenance of systems required Associate degree or completion of college courses equivalent to an associate degree with an emphasis in Telecommunications preferred plus a minimum of 2 years experience in providing in-depth knowledge of installation and maintenance of systems require Military experience can substitute for educational requirements Knowledge of techniques involved in the implementation and maintenance of private & public telecommunication networks and equipment operation, required Ability to use and operate a personal computer, basic cable tester, and other equipment used in installation and maintenance of telecommunication systems, required Familiarity with twisted pair, fiber, and color-coding conventions Preferred Certifications include: ShoreTel Connect Installation and Maintenance Mitel Blue MiBusiness Installation and Maintenance Toshiba Installation and Maintenance MiVoice Connect Installation and Maintenance RingCentral Installation and Maintenance 8x8 Installation and Maintenance FortiVoice Installation and Maintenance Installation of UTP Cabling About VAF Van Ausdall & Farrar is Indiana's leader in business office technology services since 1914.
