The Product Tech Specialist is responsible to provide technical support of various lighting and AV products to both internal staff and external customers. This includes hardware, software and networking diagnostics and support, QC, and general department maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain in-depth technical understanding of TMB proprietary and distributed products (“products”)
Provide Technical Support and/or advice for incoming customer communications re TMB product technical issues
Perform basic repairs, firmware updates, etc., as needed, on TMB proprietary and distributed products
Participate in 24-hour on call rotation for after-hours Technical Support communications
Perform QC on designated inbound new product
Perform ongoing QC and preparation of demo equipment
Proactively learn product technical details and repair techniques, through individual research and communication with manufacturer partners and Tech Support colleagues
Contribute as needed towards new proprietary Product Development
From time to time assist Sales in demonstrating product to client groups (in a Technical Support not Sales capacity)
From time to time perform and document first article evaluations of new proprietary and distributed products
- Assist in documenting and maintaining troubleshooting and QC processes
- Help Sales and Marketing Management to Identify key selling points
From time to time advise TMB Sales, customers and specifiers with development of system specification, design, and layout for TMB exclusive products
Monitor relevant internal process documentation and product operating manuals and assist in making improvements and ensuring updates
Assist with Trade Show preparation
Attend Trade Shows as requested
Continuously expand technical knowledge, especially in all areas of lighting, audio, video, networking, and related fields, staying abreast of the latest technology trends in our marketplace
Any additional duties as assigned by Operations Management
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
College degree, trade school certification, or hands-on experience in technical aspects of performance technology. 4+ years’ experience in Lighting and/or AV technical setting preferred. Knowledge of electronics, networking and lighting and audio-visual equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, lifting, reaching. Fine motor skills and some mechanical aptitude. Ability to exert 28-60 lb. of force occasionally, and up to 28 lb. of force regularly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Preferred Skills:
Device and hardware testing, trouble-shooting and diagnostics skills. Understanding of sACN, ArtNet, DMX and RDM. Also general understanding of computer networking and modern Audio/Video technology, protocols and practices; Other software knowledge such as SharePoint, Adobe editing programs, etc.
Schedule:
8 hours per day, M-F, with occasional overtime and/or weekends as needed.
