System Engineer

The System Engineer will be responsible for on-site sever infrastructure project work. This will be a 6-to-12-month contract position.

• Assemble/install/rack/stack/connect all required new Cisco UCS hardware in existing racks in Datacenter 1 and 2
• Connect/setup all Cisco UCS hardware to newly installed Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnect FI switches and ensure communication to existing Pure Storage arrays and to local Manufacturing network (LAN) in both Datacenters
• Setup iSCSI connections and ensure connectivity from all new blade hosts in new UCS chassis to Pure Storage arrays
• Install VMWare ESXi and build out all host blades using UCS server profiles/templates in all UCS chassis in both Datacenters and ensure Pure Storage Datastores are presented and accessible to all new blade hosts
• Install vCenter virtual server and create a new vCenter cluster for all new VMWare hosts and ensure HA/DRS is enabled
• Build VM server templates for each type of server required for new server workloads and use templates to create all required VMs for MES
• Support any server/storage requests or issues from MES development teams for new production servers created
• Work with Systems Engineering staff to plan a migration of all existing Manufacturing workloads from the current UCS 5108 host blades running Hyper-V to the new VMWare host blades in the new vCenter Cluster
• Careful planning of conversion/migration of existing production VMs is essential and should be done in small phases to ensure downtime for existing production servers is kept to a minimum
