Duties

  • Directs, manages and supervises all law enforcement desk operations on an assigned shift.
  • Reviews all law enforcement reports and supporting documentation to include substantiating charges for correctness, completeness, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Reviews journals, blotters, critical information reports, serious incident reports and other correspondence as necessary and disseminate them as required by standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures proper receipt, processing and safekeeping of evidence in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains communications with mobile patrol units, access control points, to pass direction and information to Police Officers.
  • Develops employee performance standards.
  • Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Performs required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive. Requirements Conditions of Employment
  • Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Tier 3 (Secret) security investigation.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within a one year of hire date, or next available, unless incumbent has an approved waiver/exemption from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes...
  • These include, but not limited to: Telecommunicator 1, Telecommunicator 2, Dispatch training, Weapons qualifications, First aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony in accordance with Section 639 of P.L. 106-554 effective January 20, 2001.
  • This position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004). Incumbents are not subject to administrative dismissal in emergencies created by inclement weather conditions or other emergency situations as appropriate...
  • A Mission Essential employee is required to report for, or remain at, work in emergency situations, and dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to him/her unless his/her supervisor instructs otherwise.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • This position is designated as KEY position IAW AR 690-11, Para 1-11. As a KEY position, incumbent is subject to screening for Ready Reserve. Incumbent cannot be a member of the Selected Reserve, Individual Ready Reserve or Inactive National Guard.
  • Civilians in key positions must be exempt from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligation.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).   • Specialized experience is defined as one year of specialized experience which includes: 1) conducting full range of complex law enforcement such as interviewing witnesses and interrogating suspects; 2) providing training and guidance on law enforcement regulations and procedures; AND 3) leading or supervising employees in the area of security or law enforcement. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional information
