Position Objective
This position’s responsibilities are to provide secretarial support such as answering phones and serving as receptionist for a work group, performing word processing and data entry, maintaining files and records, and preparing materials.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
Conditions Of Employment
These are on-call positions. The number of days or hours that a substitute works is dependent upon the number of staff in the postion who are absent on any given day. No specific guarantee of work is offered. The rate of pay is $ 22.79/hour. Substitutes are not eligible for benefits until they work 630 hours in a certain school year.

- May work under the direct supervision of a certificated, administrative or classified staff member based upon the assigned duties;
- May provide support to teachers with materials, supplies and copying;
- May perform routine tasks in monitoring and assisting student progress within a classroom setting;
- May work with individual students or small groups of students in a classroom setting as directed by a certificated staff member;
- May record observations and data regarding student progress as directed by the classroom teacher or administrator;
- Assist with activities offered by the school which may include before or after school activities;
- May accompany groups of students on field trips and other outings;
- Attends staff meetings as required;
- Participates in professional development and training as required for the position;
- May work with English Language Learners, requiring an understanding of their unique needs;
- May work in an office or general school setting;
- May be assigned to support elementary school health clinics, performing duties as assigned by the nurse;
- May enter records regarding students as needed for the position;
- May provide support for serving a diverse population of students;
- May provide clerical and other support if assigned to a school office or non-classroom setting;
- May provide supervision of students in non-classroom settings, including lunch room, playground or cross-walks;
- May provide supervision for parking lots as required;
- Collaborates with other staff members as required for the assignment;
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned;
- Reports directly to supervisor/evaluator.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Experience working in a school setting
- Demonstrates basic academic knowledge in core content areas with a focus on math and reading;
- Understands basics of child development;
- Possesses and awareness of cultural and racial diversity;
- Possesses basic skills with computers, including keyboarding and the ability to enter data and information;
- Understands basic safety and emergency procedures including basics of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills;
- Possesses ability to follow oral and written directions;
- Demonstrates effective organizing skills;
- Possesses ability to work in a team setting;
- Maintains confidentiality with student and employee records and information as required;
- Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations;
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements;
- Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations;
- Required to perform or track multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Required to remain flexible to changes in work assignment, to remain flexible under pressure, and to respond appropriately to various situations.
