We have an immediate need for a Stormwater Scientist to support stormwater sampling at 10 U.S. Army Reserve Centers (USARC) located across Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maryland. This position is based out of KGS’ Exton, PA office and will consider candidates in PA, NY or MA. This position has the potential to be part-time or full-time and will require flexibility as sampling could occur on nights/weekends/holidays.
Essential Functions
Forecast weather patterns out to 10 days in advance at least three times weekly utilizing specific weather tracking apps. Update logs of forecasted weather and report anticipated efforts for upcoming storms. Once a storm is identified as a potential qualifying event, the employee will mobilize to the affected facilities to conduct grab sampling for specific parameters indicated by the NPDES permit. All grab samples must be obtained from a storm event that is at least 0.1 inches of precipitation or greater. All grab samples should be conducted within the first 30 minutes of site discharge. All potential storm events must occur when the previous 72 hours has received < 0.1 inches of precipitation. All grab samples will be visually inspected and documented during sampling. Once grab samples are collected, they will be packaged with a completed chain of custody form, iced down in a cooler, and shipped to the laboratory for analysis. Ensure that all samples are collected, labeled, handled, and shipped in accordance with standard operating procedures. Calibrate and use field test equipment to record measurements of pH, conductivity, ORP, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. Record detailed, legible field notes with accompanying photographs. Maintain a high-level of effective internal and external communication with project team members and client representatives. Follow all safety rules and guidelines. Promote adherence to quality standards and practices for field work and reporting.

Essential Functions
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 0-2 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate travel for sample collection.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

- The average salary range for this position is between $42,000-$52,000 and will be based on factors such as experience, education, and geographical location.
