Job Description Of The Stadium Foreman

Reports To: Grounds Athletics Supervisor

FSLA Status: Non-Exempt – Safety Sensitive

Compensation: 185 (Salary determined by experience)

Work Days: 242

FTE: 8 hours per day

Position Summary

Performs a variety of tasks necessary to maintain the grounds and athletic fields for Oklahoma City Public Schools to meet OSSAA standards. Facilities include grass and synthetic turf playing fields, softball fields, baseball fields, tennis courts, and futsal courts and are not exclusive to stadiums.

Essential Duties

  • Walks facility every morning to check for any vandalism, break-ins, or damage. Reports and documents anything found to the Grounds Athletic Supervisor.
  • Picks up trash, leaves and debris, checks drains etc., on a daily basis.
  • Mows, weeds, edges, waters and fertilizes fields as needed. May use chemicals such as pre-emergent as needed.
  • Oversees the opening, closing, and managing of gates upon arrival. Monitors the opening and closing of gates when present at the stadium. Unlocks gates for teams and fans in a timely manner; Locks gates upon conclusion of game after fans/players depart.
  • Keeps restrooms, press boxes, dressing rooms, and concession stands clean and stocked.
  • Removes all trash and debris, before, during, and after all events from the stadium.
  • Keeps all buildings and storage clean, organized and locked.
  • Removes and/or covers graffiti on the stadium, repairing any damages that have been caused by vandalism. May submit work orders if needed to complete repairs. Reports and documents all vandalism to the Grounds Athletic Supervisor.
  • Reports and documents any unsafe or dangerous conditions to the Grounds Athletic Supervisor immediately upon discovery.
  • Changes light bulbs in scoreboards and clocks; Checks scoreboard to make sure it is operational. Checks P.A. and scoreboard 48 hours before events and again the day of the event. Reports and Issues to the Grounds Athletic Supervisor.
  • Paints and/or touches up field as needed before games verifying that the lines are fully visible and not faded; Sets out benches and shelters for home and away teams as well as other necessary field equipment.
  • Removes water from the track to help the drying process after rain.
  • Prepares equipment for game days (team flags, down box, benches, team shelters, corner flags, wraps, and put American flag, Oklahoma flag, and team flag up before games and take down afterwards).
  • Provides a list of supplies needed for the stadium to the Grounds Athletic Supervisor
  • Artificial turf should be walked throughout the season keeping it free from trash and debris.
  • Artificial turf should be groomed weekly and is not limited to the stadiums. Artificial turf baseball and softball fields should be groomed weekly during the season.
  • Painting of practice fields, competitive softball and baseball fields, as well as band practice outlines should be expected throughout the seasons.
  • Performs other duties that may not be listed above as assigned by the Grounds Athletic Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills And/or Abilities Required)

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience required.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's license required to operate district owned vehicles.
  • May use power tools, hand tools and all types of mowing equipment.

  • Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 75 pounds.

  • Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
  • Work involves safety sensitive essential job functions.
  • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
  • Will require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
  • Work involves safety sensitive essential job functions.
