PHILLIPS School ~ Fairfax is recruiting an Education Program Supervisor to join our mission for the 2024-2025 school year.

What The Special Education Program Supervisor Does

In coordination with the Program Director, Related Services Supervisors, Teachers and Classroom Staff, the Program Supervisor manages and provides administrative supports related to the educational program in addition to providing leadership regarding curriculum, IEP development, progress reporting and general assistance to the Program Director. Working alongside an established administrative team the key areas of responsibility include:

  • Supervise and coordinate school-wide curriculum, including purchasing and organizing professional materials.
  • Collaborate with Program Supervisors, Related Services staff, and Reading Specialists on curriculum matters.
  • Provide direction and support to staff in conjunction with the Program Director.
  • Oversee the completion of IEPs, progress reports, mid-quarter grades, and report cards.
  • Assist with the admission process and manage student transitions.
  • Coordinate testing schedules and administer SOL and PARCC assessments.
  • Collaborate with the technology team and attend relevant meetings.
  • Ensure the quality of academic services through strong administrative oversight and quality improvement.
  • Develop and implement professional development plans for staff.
  • Assist in student and classroom crises as needed, providing counseling and support.
  • Observe classrooms, provide feedback, and offer general instruction in the absence of a teacher.
  • Hire, evaluate, and train staff under supervision, maintaining awareness of staff performance.
  • Ensure staff maintain their professional licenses and certifications.
  • Lead and facilitate IEP, Eligibility, and other student-related meetings.
  • Manage relevant budgets and maintain communication with outside professionals.
  • Assist with compliance processes for OSSE, VDOE, and VAISEF.
  • Serve as a designee for the Program Director in instructional areas and represent the school in outside activities.
  • Provide backup support for after-hours building concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What The Education Program Supervisor Brings To The Team

  • Master’s degree in special education or related field.
  • Hold a valid Virginia professional certificate or eligibility for Advanced Professional Certificate in Special Education.
  • Prior participation in Leadership Skills Development or related training/workshop preferred.
  • At least 5 years of successful teaching experience preferred.
  • Non-public special education school management and administration experience preferred.
