School Summary:

South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA) is a tuition-free, K–12 online public school. The school was launched in 2008–09 under contract to the South Carolina Connections Academy Charter School. SCCA is South Carolina’s very first virtual charter school, authorized by the Charter Institute at Erskine The school serves students in grades K–12 from anywhere in South Carolina.

Position Summary

From the SCCA office in Columbia and your home office, The Director of School Support is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to the School Support Department. They will collaborate with school administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure the effective implementation of various programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing student learning outcomes and overall school performance. They ensure the school’s compliance with all district, state, and federal mandates.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures aligned with the school's mission and vision.
  • Provide guidance and support to departmental staff in the execution of their duties.
  • Oversee accountability initiatives such as the School Climate Surveys
  • Serve as an official School Test Coordinator and the liaison to the district
  • Oversee test site selection, vendor relations and contracts, testing team and site lead support, and communication to stakeholders regarding assessment
  • Responsible for growing and development of staff who report to them.
  • Coordinate state testing and assessment activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of school support programs
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Represent the School Support Department in meetings with school leadership, external agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in professional development activities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • South Carolina Professional Educator License
  • School leadership experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Proficiency in office software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Chat).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel
  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication.
